Michael on June 2nd, 2008 | File Under Weekly Assignments -

Every Monday on the Writer’s Library an assignment will be given for everyone who wishes to participate. When you have completed the assignment you will post your writing in the forums in the Assignment Category.

These assignments will be a community activity. Members of the Writer’s Library are responsible for critiquing the works.

Week #1

Write a description of one of the photos below. You can use your imagination and write beyond what the picture shows, or you can combine ideas of multiple pictures.

Write one to three paragraphs. To learn from this exercise you must spend the time and make the paragraphs great!

The Goal of The Writer’s Library

Michael on May 17th, 2008 | File Under Uncategorized -

I am very excited to start The Writer’s Library. The goal of the Writer’s Library is for all who visit this site to become a better writer. The site is intended for both novice and expert writers; freelance and professional.

My Confession…

For anyone who visits this site, I will openly admit that I am not a great writer. However, because I am not a great writer, I believe The Writer’s Library will have qualities that other writing blogs will not have. Instead of me writing about advice, I am l writing about what I have learned. This will guarantee that the posts on this blog are lessons, lessons that you and I will both benefit from.

Critique

Throughout my high school years I had never felt that my English teachers had offered me much insight into becoming a better writer, but then I decided to begin writing and seeking advice on the internet. One of the most valuable skills I discovered was critiquing. I believe the easiest and best method of becoming a better writer is by critiquing both yours and other’s works. Critiquing will be the focus of this blog.

The Community

I want this to be a community. I want you to write for this blog. I want you to participate in the forums. I want you to teach me how to write.

As I mentioned above I believe critiquing to be very important and critiquing cannot happen without a community. I desire The Writer’s Library to be a friendly and helpful community. I will not tolerate cruel comments on the blog or in the forums. It is understandable that critiquing someone’s work may come across as offensive, and anyone that posts their work on the forums should understand that they may not receive the comments they desire.
